Google's agentic AI assistant, Gemini Spark, is rolling out for macOS users, transforming Gemini into an active partner that can perform tasks. This new feature allows users to ask Spark to organize files, such as sorting PDFs in their Downloads folder. It can also manage Workspace applications by creating spreadsheets from local invoices.
Future updates aim to enable Spark to execute tasks on a computer remotely, initiated from a phone. For instance, users could request a file from their laptop and have it emailed to them while away. The assistant prioritizes user privacy by only accessing files with explicit permission.
Currently, Gemini Spark is in beta testing and exclusively available in the US. Access requires a Google AI Ultra subscription, costing $100 per month. Users can also link Spark with Google Tasks and Keep, with integrations for third-party apps like Canva and Dropbox coming soon.
