25 Feb
Summary
- Gemini voice assistant will book Ubers and order food.
- The feature is in early preview, starting in US and South Korea.
- Users can monitor Gemini's actions via a live notification.

A decade after initial promises, AI voice assistants are set to perform real-world tasks. Samsung and Google have unveiled Gemini, an advanced voice assistant designed to interact with third-party applications. Users will soon be able to direct Gemini to book an Uber or order food through popular services such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub.
This new capability, still in its early preview stages, will debut with the Galaxy S26 smartphones on March 11, 2026. Initial availability will be limited to the United States and South Korea, with broader support expected later this year. The system allows users to monitor Gemini's background actions through a live notification.
If Gemini requires clarification, such as determining the correct airport from multiple options in the New York tristate area, it will prompt the user for more information. While Gemini manages the process in the background, the final booking decision for rides or food orders remains with the user, ensuring control over choices like service type or fare confirmation.
