Summary
- A Brazilian court ordered Microsoft to restore a suspended Xbox account.
- The account was suspended due to unauthorized access and hacking.
- Microsoft faces daily penalties for non-compliance with the court order.

A Brazilian court has ruled in favor of a gamer whose Xbox account was suspended by Microsoft following a hacking incident. The gamer, identified as Ordo_Liberal on Reddit, had their account access revoked due to unauthorized activity, with Microsoft citing it as the only way to prevent further misuse.
Instead of creating a new account and rebuilding a digital game library, the gamer initiated a lawsuit against Microsoft. Fortunately, Brazil's consumer protection laws allowed the gamer to pursue this case at no initial cost.
The court has given Microsoft a 15-day deadline to reinstate Ordo_Liberal's account. Should the company fail to comply, it faces a daily penalty of 150 Brazilian reais (approximately $30 USD), capped at 1,500 reais (roughly $300 USD).
Additionally, Microsoft has been ordered to pay the gamer 2,000 Brazilian reais (around $400 USD) in damages. While this case may not involve the substantial sums seen in class-action lawsuits, it represents a crucial moment for consumer rights, particularly concerning digital-only libraries.
