Fujifilm has introduced the Instax Mini 13, a modest update to its popular budget instant camera series. This new model arrives three years after the Instax Mini 12 and is set to begin shipping on June 25.
The Instax Mini 13 maintains the beloved playful design and comes in a variety of pastel colors, including Candy Pink, Frost Blue, Clay White, Lagoon Green, and Dreamy Purple. It continues to offer fully analog instant photography using Instax Mini paper, featuring automatic exposure, a built-in flash, and a close-up mode.
The primary enhancement in the Mini 13 is the addition of a self-timer function, offering both 2-second and 10-second options. This feature, indicated by an LED trim around the shutter button, simplifies hands-free selfies and group shots. While it lacks a tripod thread, a new strap design aids in propping the camera up for adjusted angles.
Despite these improvements, the camera still relies on 2x AA batteries for power, eschewing USB charging. The most welcome news for consumers is that the Instax Mini 13 is priced identically to its predecessor, remaining at approximately $94 / £79 / AU$139. This unchanged affordability is expected to make it a top seller.
