Framework Raises Prices Again Amid Memory Shortage
11 Mar
Summary
- Framework Computer announced a third price increase for RAM.
- SSD storage prices are also rising due to inventory depletion.
- CPU supply constraints may lead to further cost hikes.

Framework Computer has announced a third price increase for RAM as global memory shortages persist. The company cited rising supplier costs and the depletion of lower-cost inventory as reasons for the adjustment. Customers can expect to pay more per gigabyte for DDR5 RAM, with specific modules now significantly more expensive than in previous months.
Beyond RAM, the shortage is also impacting SSD storage prices. Framework is raising costs for 500GB and 1TB SSDs, which have seen substantial increases since November. Despite these hikes, certain higher-capacity SSD models remain priced below market value as the company manages existing stock.
The escalating component costs are affecting Framework's other products, including the Framework Desktop and some configurations of the Framework Laptop 16. The base model of the Framework Desktop has seen its starting price increase notably since its initial launch earlier in the year.
Compounding these issues, Framework is facing potential CPU supply constraints from Intel, which is prioritizing server chips. This limited availability of processors, such as specific Intel i5 models, could lead to further price adjustments and stock limitations for Framework devices.
