Strength training has seen a significant surge in popularity, with data from Garmin and Oura indicating a consistent rise in user engagement. However, accurately logging workout details on traditional fitness trackers often proves cumbersome. Addressing this gap, three former Tesla engineers—Miranda Nover, Zac Valles, and Paul Schneider—founded Fort in January 2025.
Their new wearable, named Fort, promises hands-free weight lifting tracking, a unique offering in the current market. The device also provides detailed strength training analytics, sleep, stress, and step tracking. It features a sleek, bracelet-like design, weighing under 30 grams, and is waterproof with a battery life of about a week.
Fort's innovation lies in its proprietary technology that measures barbell velocity, offering insights into user exertion and potential maximum weight. This advanced tracking method aims to overcome the inaccuracies and inconveniences of existing smartphone apps or bar-attached sensors. Fort is available for preorder at $289, including the first year of an $80 subscription, with shipments expected later this year.
