Ford announced significant advancements at CES 2026, introducing an AI assistant set to launch in its smartphone app in early 2026. This assistant, hosted on Google Cloud, will leverage advanced LLMs and possess deep access to vehicle-specific information, enabling owners to ask questions ranging from cargo capacity to real-time oil life. A native, in-vehicle integration of this AI is slated for 2027.
Alongside the AI assistant, Ford revealed a next-generation BlueCruise advanced driver assistance system. This upgraded system will be 30% cheaper to manufacture and is scheduled to debut in 2027 on an electric vehicle built on the company's new Universal Electric Vehicle platform. Ford anticipates this system will enable eyes-off driving capabilities by 2028.
The new BlueCruise promises point-to-point autonomy, comparable to Tesla's offerings, while still requiring driver attentiveness. These developments position Ford at the forefront of automotive innovation, focusing on integrating sophisticated AI and enhancing autonomous driving features for future consumers.
