Firefox Launches AI-Powered "AI Window" for Browsing
13 Nov
Summary
- Firefox building AI browsing feature called "AI Window"
- AI Window includes an AI assistant and chatbot
- Mozilla positions itself as the "respectful browsing" company

As of November 13th, 2025, the independent browser Firefox from Mozilla is building an AI browsing feature called "AI Window." This new feature includes an AI assistant and chatbot, which Mozilla describes as an opt-in "intelligent and user-controlled space" that is currently being developed "in the open" with user input.
In September 2025, Firefox had already launched a "shake to summarize" feature that uses AI to generate webpage summaries on iPhones. Now, the company is taking its AI efforts a step further with the AI Window, which will be one of three browsing experiences offered to Firefox users, alongside private and classic windows.
Mozilla positions itself as the "respectful browsing" company, in contrast to others building AI experiences that "keep you locked in a conversational loop." The company says it sees a different path where "AI serves as a trusted companion, enhancing your browsing experience and guiding you outward to the broader web."
Users will be able to pick the AI model they want to use in the AI Window, though Mozilla has not provided many additional details yet. Those interested in updates on the AI Window can join the company's waitlist.
