Firefox AI Fills Forms From Tabs

Summary

  • Firefox Smart Window uses open tabs to fill online forms.
  • New feature pulls data from LinkedIn or portfolios for applications.
  • Users can now ask Smart Window to monitor pages for updates.

Firefox's Smart Window, an AI-powered browsing experience, is rolling out a significant update. The new feature allows the browser to automatically fill out online forms by drawing information from your currently open tabs. This capability is designed to streamline processes like job applications, where it can extract details from sources like LinkedIn or online portfolios.

Users can activate this form-filling function by interacting with a form containing at least four text fields. They then select the 'Fill from sources' option, choosing which tabs Firefox should analyze for relevant data. While currently supporting text fields, support for dropdown menus and PDFs is planned. The AI suggestions are generated using Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite model, with data shared from source pages.

In addition to form assistance, Smart Window now enables users to set up "watch" tasks. By typing '/watch' in the chat interface, users can describe desired updates, such as sales or new job listings, and specify webpages to monitor. Firefox will check for these changes daily or weekly when open, notifying users via the toolbar or desktop notifications. The watching feature will pause after 60 days without detected changes and cease entirely after 90 days.

These updates are currently available in the Smart Window beta for desktop users in the United States and Canada. Broader international availability is expected in the coming months.
