Evercade has unveiled its latest portable gaming console, the Nexus, set to launch in October 2026. This new handheld significantly enhances the gaming experience with a larger 5.89-inch display, a notable upgrade from its predecessors. The screen also boasts a resolution bump and a shift to a 16:9 aspect ratio, promising a more immersive visual presentation.
The Nexus introduces several new features, including dual analog thumb sticks and support for wireless headphones. It is powered by a quad-core 1.5Ghz processor and includes a 5,000mAh battery designed to offer over five hours of gameplay. A new wireless multiplayer feature, EverSync, will allow players to share games, reducing the need for multiple cartridges.
As with other Evercade handhelds, the Nexus operates using proprietary Evercade cartridges, offering access to a vast library of over 700 officially-licensed retro titles, rather than supporting ROMs or older game formats. The Nexus will include a special cartridge with enhanced versions of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. Preorders begin on April 1st for $199.99.
