Eve has introduced an upgrade kit designed to bring smart capabilities to existing roller blinds. This device, priced at $199.95, allows users to motorize their current shades and integrate them with smart home systems via Thread connectivity. The company states the kit is easy to install without requiring wiring or technical expertise, and it features a battery rechargeable via USB-C that should last up to a year with regular use.
The upgrade kit is set to become available on March 28th. Initially, control will be managed through the Apple Home app or Eve's own app, with Android support anticipated soon. The company also plans to release custom blinds featuring this technology from retailers like Blinds.com and Selectblinds.com.
Further enhancing its appeal, all Eve MotionBlinds products, including the upgrade kit, are slated to receive Matter support through a firmware update in late Q1. This update will enable seamless integration with all major smart home platforms, including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. Eve will also begin shipping its Door and Window, Energy, and Motion devices with Matter support out of the box.
