EU Forces Google to Share Android AI Access

The Commission rejected Apple's request for an 18-month period to implement interoperability for Siri AI, citing privacy and security concerns. Apple chose not to launch Siri AI in the EU due to the Digital Markets Act's requirements. Google's situation allows its AI assistant to remain on the market while it works towards compliance, a grace period that Apple was denied for Siri AI. This difference highlights varying approaches to AI development and regulatory navigation, with Google prioritizing market presence and subsequent compliance, while Apple opted for a more cautious, withholding strategy.
