Institutions are four times more likely than the global average to be unsure if they experienced an email security incident, suggesting undetected attacks. When attacks do bypass defenses, education organizations demonstrate slower response times for investigation and recovery compared to other industries. This delay allows attackers more time to deepen their access and amplify potential damage.
User behavior and human error are cited as leading contributors to these incidents, with many institutions also reporting a lack of expertise in incident response. Consequently, there is a strong desire for AI-assisted detection and investigation tools, with 41% of education respondents welcoming such advancements.
