Ecobee Security Plans Change: More Costly?

Ecobee, known for its smart thermostats, is revising its home security subscription offerings. The company is introducing three new tiers: Core (free), Plus (for one camera), and Advanced (for unlimited cameras). A significant change is the removal of professional monitoring from the previously $10/month plan.

For customers desiring 24/7 monitoring with professional response to break-ins and environmental hazards, an additional $10 per month will be required. Those opting for 24/7 smoke detection monitoring will incur an extra $5 monthly charge. These new plans are effective immediately.

However, existing Ecobee customers will have until December 31, 2026, to transition to the new subscription structure. After this date, they must select one of the updated plans. This adjustment aligns Ecobee's pricing for professional monitoring with competitors like Ring and Wyze, both charging $20 per month.
