Drone Hits 434 MPH, Shattering Speed Records
10 Jul
Summary
- Quantum Systems' drone reached an unofficial 434 mph speed.
- This speed surpasses the current electric drone record.
- The drone is a technology demonstrator for future military systems.

Germany's Quantum Systems achieved an unofficial airspeed record of 434 mph with its Apex Recordhunter drone on June 26, 2026. This speed surpasses the existing record of 409 mph, although a formal verification by Guinness World Records and FAI is still expected in the coming weeks. The drone primarily functions as a technology demonstrator, integrating innovations for future high-speed military systems.
The Apex Recordhunter is a fixed-wing, battery-electric aircraft developed by Quantum Systems' N3XT advanced development team. Lessons learned from this project will directly influence the development of future interceptor platforms for defense applications. Engineers from Quantum's Ukrainian WIY Drones division also contributed, highlighting the growing importance of high-speed drones in modern warfare, particularly in response to threats from jet-powered attack drones.
Quantum Systems aims to set two more records by mid-July 2026. Its STRILA Interceptor drone is targeting the record for the fastest FPV interceptor with a 500g payload, while the SPYS drone will attempt the highest speed for an anti-aircraft class FPV interceptor. These developments reflect a global trend in advancing drone technology for military purposes.
