DJI has introduced the RS 5, the latest addition to its Ronan Series camera gimbals. This lightweight device, weighing around three pounds, supports a payload of nearly seven pounds and is designed for a wide range of mirrorless cameras and lenses.
The new gimbal incorporates DJI's "enhanced intelligent subject tracking," allowing users to frame live footage and follow subjects directly from an included touchscreen, eliminating the need to adjust the camera itself. This advanced tracking extends beyond people to include pets, vehicles, and other objects, while also maintaining a locked focus on human subjects up to 10 meters away.
Equipped with DJI's latest stabilization algorithm, the RS 5 enables complex camera movements like surround shots and reverse tracking. It is also well-suited for capturing footage while in motion, such as walking or running. The gimbal can switch to vertical shooting without extra accessories and includes a briefcase handle for unique shooting angles.
Durability is a key feature, with the RS 5 offering up to 14 hours of use on a single charge, fully recharging in just one hour. An optional enhanced battery grip accessory can extend this runtime to 30 hours for extended shoots.
The standard DJI RS 5 package, which includes the gimbal, tripod, quick-release plates, and a battery grip, costs approximately $680. A combo pack, featuring an enhanced tracking module, carrying case, and electronic briefcase handle, is available for around $859.
As of 2026-01-29T12:46:56+00:00, a specific US release date for the DJI RS 5 has not yet been announced, and DJI has been contacted for further information.
