DJI's Latest Pocket Camera Skips US Launch
30 Apr
Summary
- DJI's Osmo Pocket 4 camera has not launched in the US market.
- The Pocket 4 features an upgraded sensor, improved dynamic range, and better low-light performance.
- Pricing outside the US starts at £429 / €479, with multiple bundle options available.

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 represents a notable step forward for compact steadicam technology. This latest iteration boasts an upgraded 1-inch sensor that significantly enhances dynamic range and low-light capabilities, offering improved image quality even in challenging conditions like dimly lit London streets. Video resolution remains at 4K, but the increased sensor pixels allow for a 4x lossless zoom, doubling the previous model's capability.
While outwardly similar to its predecessor, the Pocket 4 introduces subtle physical improvements, including customizable shortcut buttons for quicker access to zoom and gimbal functions. Battery life has been substantially improved, and the inclusion of 107GB of internal storage alleviates the need for constant microSD card usage. DJI claims up to 240 minutes of recording time under specific conditions, though an hour of mixed usage is more realistic.
Despite these advancements, the Osmo Pocket 4 has not been released in the US, with DJI citing pending authorization. This follows a trend of DJI products missing the US market. Outside the US, the Pocket 4 is available in several bundles, starting with the Essential Combo at £429 / €479, and extending to the feature-rich Creator Combo for £549 / €619. Potential US buyers may find hope in a rebranded dual-lens model teased by Xtra, a DJI shell company, suggesting a future market entry.
