The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P is now available, offering a significant upgrade for solo content creators. A key innovation is its detachable 'Frametap' remote control, equipped with a screen, joystick, and record button. This allows for operation from over 150 feet away, eliminating the need for a second person to start or stop recording.
The gimbal features DJI's ActiveTrack 8.0 via the Mimo app, utilizing a Multifunctional Module 2 with its own camera to precisely track people, pets, or objects. Support for Apple DockKit on iPhones enables native tracking without the module. The Osmo Mobile 8P also offers creative camera moves like DynamicZoom and Slow Shutter.
Available in Europe starting at £135/€145, the Osmo Mobile 8P comes in various bundles. Pricing ranges from the standard combo to the Advanced Tracking Combo and the Creator Combo, which includes additional accessories like a DJI Mic Mini 2. Availability in the US is not yet confirmed but may occur later.
This updated gimbal provides enhanced stability for smartphone videography, smoothing out action shots effectively. Its extended functionality makes it suitable for various uses, including professional vlogging, dynamic videography, and even for stable video calls, ensuring the user remains centered in the frame when placed on its tripod feet.
