Cyberdeck Trend Takes Over: Build Your Own Portable PC!

Portable computers, known as cyberdecks, made from repurposed items such as purses and jewelry boxes, have experienced a significant surge in popularity over the past year, becoming a viral trend across social media platforms. Raspberry Pi has officially acknowledged this trend and released a guide for building these unique devices.

The company's new guide offers a parts list and assembly instructions for a basic cyberdeck design. This move by Raspberry Pi comes amidst multiple price increases for its components, including a substantial hike for the 16GB Raspberry Pi 5. These rising costs could further encourage hobbyists and creators to explore the growing market of DIY technology.

Content creators are demonstrating the versatility of cyberdecks, with designs ranging from simple to elaborate. One notable example is a 'mermaid' purse cyberdeck that has garnered millions of views, showcasing the creative potential and customizability inherent in these homemade computers.
