DIRECTV has launched an innovative multiview feature on its streaming platform, enabling customers to watch up to four live television channels concurrently from one screen. This development caters to viewers who want to follow multiple live events, stay updated with breaking news, or accommodate different family viewing choices.
The new multiview experience is integrated into DIRECTV's 'Mix Channels,' which are curated selections based on genres like sports, news, and kids' programming. Options include a Sports Mix with major sports networks, a League Sports mix for professional leagues, and a News Mix featuring prominent news channels. These mixes allow users to switch audio feeds or view a single channel in full screen.
This advancement brings DIRECTV's pioneering multi-channel viewing technology, originally launched for satellite TV subscribers in 2008, to its over-the-top streaming service. The company highlights this as the next generation of mix channels, delivering curated layouts and local channel options directly over the internet without requiring a satellite dish or cable box.
