Scientists at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne have created a groundbreaking robotic hand with unprecedented dexterity and motion. This innovative creation can detach from an arm and maneuver on its own, featuring fingers that can bend backward. Its design allows for complex grasping, including picking up multiple objects at once and performing fine motor tasks like unscrewing a cap.

The research, detailed in Nature Communications, initially produced a five-fingered version exhibiting human-like agility. A subsequent six-fingered iteration enhanced manipulation capabilities.
