29 Jan
Summary
- Delhi's first double-decker metro viaduct is now ready for trains.
- It will carry metro trains above and vehicles below.
- This is part of the city's Phase IV metro expansion project.

Delhi has achieved a significant milestone with its first double-decker metro viaduct, located between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar stations on the Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor, now ready for train operations. This innovative structure, part of the city's extensive Phase IV metro expansion, is designed to carry metro trains on its upper deck while accommodating vehicular traffic on the lower deck.
While metro services can commence, the road ramp for vehicles is slated for completion later this year, having faced delays due to tree-cutting permissions. This 1.4-km viaduct is a key component of the 12.3-km Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor, which will establish the Pink Line as Delhi Metro's first circular route.
Delhi Metro is developing two more double-decker viaducts as part of Phase IV: a 2.2-km structure on the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg corridor and a 2.4-km viaduct on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor. These expansions aim to significantly improve connectivity across the National Capital Region.
