Developers will benefit from an updated API compatible with OpenAI's Responses API format and integrated Codex support. Thinking effort levels have been expanded to three settings: low, high, and max, allowing for fine-tuned computational intensity matching task complexity.
A notable price increase for the V4 model family is scheduled for August 16 at 16:00 UTC. DeepSeek is also introducing peak and off-peak billing, with off-peak rates at half the price of peak hours.
This launch follows positive independent tests of DeepSeek's V4-Flash model. Despite the upcoming price hikes, DeepSeek's peak rates remain competitive compared to some industry rivals. The company had previously offered promotional discounts on V4-Pro.
