Petabyte Storage Arrives: 4 Drives Hit 1PB
31 Mar
Summary
- Four DapuStor drives now deliver a full petabyte of storage capacity.
- The drive offers 245.76TB capacity in a single E1.L form factor.
- Sequential read speeds exceed 14,000MB/s, but write speeds are limited.

The DapuStor Roealsen6 R6060 drive is now available, offering an immense 245.76TB capacity in a single E1.L form factor. This advancement means that just four of these drives can achieve a full petabyte of storage, dramatically altering data center infrastructure planning by reducing physical space and complexity.
Leveraging PCIe Gen5 and a 16-channel controller, the drive excels in read operations, achieving sequential speeds over 14,000MB/s and robust random read IOPS. However, its architecture, reliant on eQLC NAND and limited onboard DRAM, introduces performance trade-offs, particularly in write operations. Write speeds are constrained to around 3,600MB/s and do not scale with capacity, making it ideal for read-intensive but not write-heavy workloads.
Despite its high density, the Roealsen6 R6060 demonstrates controlled thermal performance, with temperatures around 51°C under sustained load using air cooling. This efficiency, coupled with reduced drive count per petabyte, translates to lower overall power consumption and costs. The drive's compatibility with systems like Ubuntu, Windows Server, and VMware ESXi targets large-scale enterprise deployments prioritizing capacity and retrieval speed.
