A massive data breach at Conduent, a major government technology contractor, is now believed to affect potentially dozens of millions of people across the United States, significantly more than previously reported. In Texas alone, the ransomware attack that occurred in January 2025 may have impacted 15.4 million individuals, representing about half of the state's population. This number is a substantial increase from the 4 million previously disclosed for Texas.
Across other states, including Oregon, Delaware, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, an additional 10.5 million people are confirmed to be affected. The compromised data includes highly sensitive personal information such as names, Social Security numbers, medical data, and health insurance details. Conduent, which processes vast amounts of personal information for government agencies and corporations, has been notifying affected individuals, a process expected to conclude by early 2026.
