Clicks Power Keyboard: Retro Typing Returns?

Clicks Technology has begun shipping its Power Keyboard, a MagSafe-compatible accessory designed to reintroduce physical keyboards to smartphones. This slide-out keyboard features tactile buttons and aims to provide the typing speed and reliability associated with BlackBerry devices.

The Power Keyboard is crafted with a premium feel, including protective films and a quick start guide. It pairs via Bluetooth and attaches magnetically to phones supporting MagSafe or Qi2, with options for adhesive rings for other devices.

Designed to accommodate various phone sizes, the keyboard offers an adjustable LED backlight for typing in low light. It features a built-in 2,150 mAh battery, an improvement over previous designs that drew power from the phone.

Customization is a key feature, allowing users to remap keys, enable cursor mode, and set up shortcuts with Apple's Shortcuts app. These advanced functions cater to power users who become comfortable with the physical keyboard.

While the keyboard adds weight and can make phones feel top-heavy, especially larger models, it offers wireless charging capabilities. Users can manage battery reserves for charging via the companion app.

The Clicks Power Keyboard is positioned as an affordable option for those nostalgic for physical keyboards, serving as a precursor to Clicks' upcoming Communicator smartphone.
