Anthropic's AI assistant, Claude, has received a significant upgrade, granting it the ability to send emails directly from Gmail. This new functionality allows users to prompt Claude to draft, reply to, or forward messages. Users can opt to manually approve each outgoing email or allow Claude to send them automatically, with granular control available for Team and Enterprise plan subscribers.
The integration also extends to Google Drive, empowering Claude to manage files through prompts for sharing, moving, or deleting. Similar to email management, these file operations will require user approval by default. These features are now accessible to all users on paid Claude plans.
Claude's capabilities also include managing Google Calendar events and an expansion of its Cowork agentic tools across all mobile and web interfaces. The Cowork tools, fully rolled out as of August 18, 2026, allow tasks to be started on one device and their results accessed on another, enhancing cross-device workflow.
