AI Workspace: Claude Blurs Lines With App Integration
27 Jan
Summary
- Claude now allows users to interact with Slack, Asana, and Figma directly.
- The update aims to reduce tab-switching by embedding live interfaces.
- This integration is powered by an extension of the Model Context Protocol.

Anthropic is transforming Claude into an AI-powered workspace by integrating popular productivity and collaboration applications directly into its chat interface. Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers can now interact with tools such as Slack, Asana, and Figma within conversations, reducing the constant need to switch between tabs.
The update leverages an extension of the open-source Model Context Protocol, known as MCP Apps, which allows integrated tools to display live interfaces within the Claude chat. This feature enables users to draft Slack messages, edit Figma diagrams, update Asana timelines, and manipulate analytics dashboards without leaving the AI assistant.
This move positions Claude as a central hub for modern digital work, aiming to eliminate the friction of mental multitasking. While competitors like OpenAI and Google are also enhancing their AI assistants within their ecosystems, Claude's integration stands out by embedding functionalities directly into the chat itself. However, this functionality is currently limited to web and desktop versions, not mobile, and may not benefit users whose daily tasks do not involve charts or project boards.
