- The program starts with four titles from 2001-2005.
- Purchased games now carry over from console to PC.
Microsoft has launched an initiative to bring older Xbox titles to modern platforms, including Windows 11 PCs and gaming handhelds like the Xbox Ally. This new Xbox Backward Compatibility on PC program debuts with four games from the early 2000s, with plans to expand over time.
These classic games are available through an Xbox Game Pass subscription or for individual purchase at $9.99 each, with one title currently discounted. Importantly, any digital game licenses previously owned on an Xbox console will now transfer to the user's PC or handheld.
Players can expect enhanced features, such as up to 4x resolution upscaling and customizable graphics settings, with Achievements planned for addition in the coming months. The minimum system requirements indicate compatibility with Windows 11 and mid-range hardware components.
