22 Oct
Summary
- Over 11.7 million Capcom ID accounts were compromised in a data breach.
- Account details like email and login history were accessed.
- A small subset of accounts had DOB, gender, and password changes.
Capcom has announced a major data breach affecting more than 11.7 million accounts. The incident, first detected on October 19, 2026, involved unauthorized access to its CAPCOM ID online membership service. Exposed information includes email addresses, account creation dates, login history, and IP addresses used for last logins.
A smaller number of accounts, 43 in total, also had their date of birth, gender, country/region, and nickname compromised. Additionally, 196 accounts experienced unauthorized changes to their login password, prompting Capcom to reset these passwords immediately.
While original user-set passwords are not believed to have been leaked, and the breach does not appear to have affected Capcom's games, the company is urging users to be vigilant. Capcom has issued a warning about potential phishing emails that may exploit the leaked data, advising users to avoid suspicious links and attachments as its investigation continues.
