AI Power Drain: Indian Startup Secures $15M
16 Feb
Summary
- AI data centers face power limitations, driving new investments.
- C2i Semiconductors offers plug-and-play power solutions for AI.
- An Indian startup raised $15 million to improve data center efficiency.
The escalating demand for Artificial Intelligence is placing unprecedented strain on data center power infrastructure, shifting the primary bottleneck from compute to electricity. Recognizing this challenge, C2i Semiconductors, an Indian startup, has successfully raised $15 million in a Series A funding round. Peak XV Partners led the investment, joined by Yali Deeptech and TDK Ventures, bringing the company's total funding to $19 million.
C2i is developing novel plug-and-play, system-level power solutions designed to drastically cut energy losses within AI data centers. Current power conversion processes within these facilities can waste between 15% to 20% of energy as voltage is stepped down. C2i's integrated 'grid-to-GPU' system aims to reduce these end-to-end losses by approximately 10%, translating to substantial energy savings and improved operational economics, including reduced cooling costs and better GPU utilization.
