Bose Earbuds Get Sound & Battery Boost
17 Sep
Summary
- Bose updated Ultra Open Earbuds boast enhanced sound and battery.
- New Sport Open Earbuds offer a secure fit for active users.
- Both models are available for preorder starting September 19.

Bose has launched its second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds, improving upon the original design that popularized clip-on audio devices. These new earbuds feature upgraded drivers for louder playback and enhanced bass, along with Bose's TrueSpatial technology and head-tracking for Immersive Audio, including a new Cinema mode. Battery life has been extended to 9 hours, up from 7, though Immersive Audio usage will reduce this. The updated Ultra Open Earbuds maintain a similar aesthetic and an IPX4 splash-resistance rating.
Complementing the Ultra Open Earbuds, Bose also introduced the new Sport Open Earbuds, priced at $199. These are specifically engineered for active lifestyles, offering a secure, soft silicone construction and an IP54 sweat, splash, and dust resistance rating. Unlike the Ultra model, the Sport Open Earbuds do not support Immersive Audio and provide up to 7 hours of battery life. Both the second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds and the new Sport Open Earbuds are available for preorder starting September 19 and will begin shipping on October 1. The clip-on earbud market has become increasingly competitive since the original Ultra Open Earbuds' release.
