Summary
- Jay Graber transitions from CEO to Chief Innovation Officer.
- Bluesky aims to find a seasoned operator for scaling and execution.
- The platform surpassed 40 million users during its growth phase.

Jay Graber, the founder and former CEO of Bluesky, has announced her departure from the top executive role. Graber will transition to the newly created position of Chief Innovation Officer, focusing on building new products for the social network. This change comes as Bluesky, which has amassed over 40 million users, enters a significant growth phase.
The platform, which gained traction as an alternative to X following Elon Musk's acquisition, needs a "seasoned operator focused on scaling and execution," Graber stated. To fill this need, venture capitalist Toni Schneider, a partner at True Ventures and former CEO of Automattic, will step in as interim CEO. Schneider's experience with scaling platforms like WordPress is expected to guide Bluesky.
Graber, who has been with Bluesky since its inception as a project within Twitter in 2019, will remain on the board of directors and play a role in selecting her successor. The search for a permanent CEO is ongoing, with the board holding the final appointment power.
