On September 9, 2025, Apple is expected to unveil the latest addition to its iPhone lineup – the iPhone 17. According to the latest reports, the new model will feature several notable upgrades compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 16.
One of the most significant changes is the larger 6.3-inch screen, up from the 6.1-inch display on the iPhone 16. This increase in size is made possible by advancements in metalens technology, which allows for a slimmer aluminum frame and more compact components. Additionally, the iPhone 17 is rumored to boast a smoother 120Hz display, a significant improvement over the 60Hz panel on the iPhone 16.
Another key upgrade is the front-facing camera, which is expected to jump from 12MP on the iPhone 16 to a 24MP sensor on the iPhone 17. This should result in sharper selfies and clearer video calls. The new model is also said to feature a six-element (6P) lens, compared to the five-element (5P) lens on the current generation.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is expected to be powered by a new A19 chipset, which should provide a noticeable performance boost over the A18 chip found in the iPhone 16. The device is also rumored to support faster Wi-Fi 7 technology, offering improved speeds and lower latency.
One of the most exciting upgrades for users is the support for 50W wireless charging, which is double the speed of the iPhone 16's wireless charging capabilities. This feature could make the iPhone 17 a leader in the wireless charging space, surpassing even the Samsung Galaxy S25's 15W wireless charging.
