Bengaluru Pioneers Quantum Tech with New Hub
14 Oct
Summary
- MIT Bengaluru inaugurated a new quantum facility called Quantum-Hub@MAHE.
- The hub offers hands-on access to quantum computing infrastructure.
- It aims to train 100 quantum engineers by December 2026.

Manipal Institute of Technology, Bengaluru (MIT Bengaluru), part of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), has launched the Quantum-Hub@MAHE. This new facility aims to advance quantum hardware experimentation and indigenous technology development in India. It offers students, researchers, and industry collaborators hands-on access to advanced quantum computing infrastructure, including quantum hardware and cryogenic systems.
The facility begins operations with a 25-qubit dilution refrigeration system, with plans to scale up to industrial-grade quantum product systems with over 1,000 qubits. MAHE's Vice Chancellor emphasized the initiative's role in building advanced scientific capabilities and nurturing talent in emerging technologies.
Collaborations with international firms like QuantrolOx, Bluefors, Qblox, and ConScience are established to support workforce development and hardware experimentation. The hub plans to train 100 quantum engineers by December 2026 and conduct outreach programs for students across rural India.
The facility will support research in diverse fields like healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and aerospace, strengthening Bengaluru's position as a center for quantum engineering and indigenous hardware development.
