AI Bar Mixes Drinks & Code in Beijing
17 Aug
Summary
- AGI Bar in Beijing's tech hub blends AI enthusiasm with a social space.
- Customers get free DeepSeek AI tokens via WiFi for coding.
- The financially struggling bar aims to expand with robots and a new branch.

Beijing's AGI Bar has emerged as a unique hub for the city's burgeoning artificial intelligence community. Opened last year in the Zhongguancun district, known as China's Silicon Valley, the bar provides a space for AI developers, investors, and students to connect and discuss industry trends. Its prime location places it near elite universities and major tech firms.
The bar offers a signature AGI drink and a special perk: customers can access free, unlimited DeepSeek tokens for coding through the bar's WiFi. These tokens run on Nvidia DGX Spark computers displayed on-site. The bar's Chinese name, "knowledge distillation," is a clever pun on both liquor production and AI model compression.
While the bar, founded by an independent AI developer, embraces AI by automating operations, it is currently not profitable, with complimentary drinks significantly outweighing sales. Nevertheless, expansion plans are underway, including a new branch in Shanghai opened in June, and the future introduction of humanoid robots to serve customers.
