Retro gaming device maker Ayaneo has finally shown its first Android phone, the Pocket Play. This device draws heavy inspiration from the 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, featuring a screen that slides up to expose a complete physical control set. Gamers will appreciate the included D-pad, ABXY buttons, and dual circular touchpads, offering a tactile experience.
While the Pocket Play is set to launch soon, specific hardware specifications are currently undisclosed. Ayaneo plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign for the device, which will provide further details. The phone also includes twin sets of shoulder buttons on its rear.
This marks the second Xperia Play-inspired device this year, following Anbernic's RG Slide. The Pocket Play appears sleeker and is expected to offer broader functionality beyond just gaming, potentially serving as a primary smartphone. However, it is anticipated to come with a higher price tag than the RG Slide's $189.
