Summary
- AWS Elemental Inference converts live footage to vertical videos.
- New tool slashes vertical video creation time significantly.
- AI analyzes video in real-time for automatic optimization.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced AWS Elemental Inference, a new product leveraging artificial intelligence to assist broadcasters in adapting live and on-demand video content for social media. The service automatically converts standard footage into vertical videos, catering to the growing demand for content on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
This AI-powered solution operates on a "process once, optimize everywhere" principle, significantly reducing the time it takes to prepare content. AWS reports latency between 6 to 10 seconds, a substantial improvement over existing tools that can take up to a minute. NBCUniversal and Fox Corp. are among the initial clients utilizing this new offering.
Ricardo Perez-Selsky of Fox Sports highlighted the dramatic reduction in turnaround time, shrinking the process from approximately 45 minutes to under 15 minutes. He noted that the AI not only automates the tedious conversion from 16x9 to 9x16 aspect ratios but also enhances storytelling by intelligently analyzing video in real-time to apply the correct optimizations and camera movements, mimicking human direction.
