Mini PC Packs RTX 5080 Power, Smaller Than PS5

The Asus ROG NUC is lauded as the best gaming mini PC tested, boasting an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and an Nvidia RTX 5080 Laptop GPU within a sub-3-liter chassis, smaller than a PlayStation 5. This compact powerhouse consistently achieved triple-digit framerates at 1080p and smooth 1440p performance with DLSS. It even handles 4K gaming at a steady 60fps or better across various titles.

Despite its hefty price tag, starting at $3499 for the 32GB RAM configuration, its performance in a compact form factor is unparalleled. The system maintains optimal temperatures and avoids throttling under sustained load, a significant feat for its size. It features a robust port selection, including two Thunderbolt 4, six USB-A, dual HDMI, DisplayPort outputs, and Ethernet, negating the need for a separate dock.

While the $3499 price remains substantial, it offers genuine RTX 5080-class performance in a miniature design, reasonably priced against comparable full-size desktops. Users seeking this level of gaming power in a small footprint, or content creators needing robust performance without sacrificing desk space, will find it appealing. However, potential buyers should note the considerable cost, fan noise under load, and limited upgradability, as the GPU is soldered in.
