The Arlo Essential Pan Tilt outdoor camera aims to deliver Arlo's signature quality at a more accessible price. Launched in 2025, this camera features 360-degree pan capabilities and captures video in crisp 2K resolution, all for an affordable $59.99.
The camera's design is functional, with a weather-resistant build suitable for outdoor conditions. Setup is straightforward, involving mounting the camera and connecting it via a 16-foot power cable. The Arlo Secure app provides an intuitive interface for controlling the camera and accessing its features.
Video quality is good for its price bracket, offering a 130-degree field of view complemented by its pan-tilt function. While it includes a spotlight for color night vision, its effectiveness is limited to nearby areas. The lack of HDR can impact image quality in challenging lighting conditions, and motion detection can sometimes experience delays.
Advanced features like generative AI summaries and custom detection are available through an Arlo Secure subscription. Without a subscription, users receive only basic motion notifications. The camera supports Alexa and Google Home but not HomeKit. Local storage is not an option, making cloud storage via subscription mandatory for video history.
