24 May
Summary
- Apple filed new Bluetooth over-ear headphones with the FCC.
- The product number A3577 offers no clear product line identification.
- These headphones could be part of the Beats line or a new product.
Apple has filed for new Bluetooth over-ear headphones with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The filing, bearing the product number A3577, has ignited speculation regarding its place within Apple's audio product lineup.
While the new headphones will not be an in-ear AirPods model, their specific product family remains unclear. Current over-ear offerings include the Beats line, acquired in 2014, and the AirPods Max, introduced in 2020.
Given that the Beats product line has seen less recent updates compared to the AirPods Max, which shipped in April 2026, there's a possibility these new headphones could belong to the Beats brand. However, this remains speculative, as the filing offers no definitive clues.
There's also a chance Apple might introduce an entirely new headphone brand, though current rumors do not support this. Separately, there are ongoing reports about future AirPods potentially featuring camera technology for AI-driven features.
