Apple's 2027 Roadmap: Touchscreen Mac & iPad Pro Upgrades
2 Jul
Summary
- Redesigned MacBook Pro with touchscreen set for early 2027 launch.
- New iPad Pros to feature vapor chamber cooling in spring 2027.
- Apple aims for steady revenue by staggering product release cycles.
Apple is poised for a busy first half of 2027, with significant updates expected for its iPad Pro and MacBook Pro lines. A redesigned MacBook Pro, rumored to feature a touchscreen, is anticipated to launch between late 2026 and early 2027, equipped with an M5 processor and a Dynamic Island-like cutout for its webcam, alongside an OLED display. This update follows the recent M5 Pro and M5 Max chip upgrade for the current MacBook Pro in March 2026.
The iPad Pro is also set for a major overhaul in spring 2027. Apple is reportedly testing four new models, which will include updated 11-inch and 13-inch displays and a new vapor chamber cooling system. These devices will arrive with an M5 processor, succeeding the M5 processor upgrade received in October 2025.
These forthcoming launches are part of Apple's strategy to maintain steady revenue by spreading product releases throughout the year. This approach contrasts with earlier product launches this year, which included the iPhone 17e, MacBook Neo, and updates to MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iPad Air. The company recently adjusted pricing, increasing costs for some products like the MacBook Pro by $300 and the iPad Pro by $200 due to rising memory expenses.
