- Updated Studio Display adds improved webcam and Thunderbolt 5 support.

Apple recently retired its six-year-old Pro Display XDR, making way for refreshed monitor offerings. The company debuted two updated models on Tuesday. The new $3,299 27-inch Studio Display XDR now features a 120Hz refresh rate and a brightness boost, addressing previous limitations.
The updated $1,599 27-inch Studio Display receives an improved webcam and Thunderbolt 5 support. However, it notably omits HDR capabilities and a high refresh rate, features many users might expect at this price point. This release marks Apple's acknowledgment of the Adobe RGB color space with new reference profiles.
The strategy behind the Studio Display's improvements, particularly the webcam and audio enhancements, is questioned given its 60Hz panel and lack of HDR. Meanwhile, the premium charged for an adjustable stand on the $1,599 model remains a point of contention for consumers.
