Apple's Smart Glasses: Design, Camera Revealed

Apple is actively developing a new category of smart glasses, internally codenamed N50, which are slated for a potential end-of-2026 or early-2027 unveiling. These display-free glasses aim to handle everyday tasks such as photo and video capture, calls, music playback, and voice commands through an enhanced Siri. They are part of a broader AI wearables strategy leveraging computer vision for contextual awareness.

The company is reportedly exploring at least four distinct frame styles, using premium materials like acetate, and considering finishes such as black, ocean blue, and light brown. A notable design element is a vertically oriented oval camera system, differentiating them from existing market offerings.

Separately, initial reports suggesting significant delays for Apple's foldable iPhone appear to be overblown. The device is anticipated to be announced in the first half of September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models, with availability planned concurrently or shortly thereafter.

Furthermore, John Giannandrea, Apple's former head of artificial intelligence, is concluding his tenure at the company this week. His departure follows a reduction in his responsibilities in March 2025, attributed to the performance of Apple Intelligence and Siri upgrades. Giannandrea plans to join company boards and engage in startup advising.
