6 May
Summary
- Apple will pay $250 million to settle a lawsuit over AI feature availability.
- The settlement covers iPhone 15 Pro and 16 models purchased between specific dates.
- Lawsuit alleged Apple misled consumers about its Apple Intelligence capabilities.

Apple has agreed to a substantial $250 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit. The legal action alleged that the company misled consumers regarding the availability and functionality of its Apple Intelligence features. This proposed settlement specifically pertains to individuals in the United States who purchased all models of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro.
These purchases must have occurred between June 10th, 2024, and March 29th, 2025. The lawsuit, filed in 2025, contended that Apple's advertisements created a "clear and reasonable consumer expectation" that Apple Intelligence features would be fully available at the iPhone 16's launch. It claimed that the actual features offered were significantly limited or absent, thus misleading consumers.
Certain AI-powered functionalities were introduced to the iPhone 16 weeks after its release. Furthermore, the launch of a more personalized Siri was delayed, with its arrival now anticipated later this year. Notably, last April, the National Advertising Division advised Apple to modify its "available now" claims for Apple Intelligence. Apple also withdrew an advertisement featuring the AI-upgraded Siri.
