Mac Configurator Gets Major Overhaul

Apple has significantly revamped its online Mac configuration tool, enabling customers to personalize their devices down to individual specifications. This shift moves away from preselected configurations to a more granular selection process for components such as color, display, processor chip, memory, and storage. Buyers can also choose their preferred power adapter and opt for pre-installed applications like Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro.

The enhanced configurator is speculated to foreshadow the release of upgraded MacBook Pro models. Rumors suggest these future devices will feature the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, offering greater flexibility in core counts. Reports indicate these new MacBook Pros could launch between February and March 2026, coinciding with the release of macOS 26.3.
