Apple's AI Image Tool Gets Major Style Upgrade

Apple's Image Playground, a feature leveraging Apple Intelligence, has been enhanced with notable updates available as of iOS 27. This tool allows users to generate images directly on their device, which can then be saved, shared, or transformed into personalized Genmoji.

Previously, users could select from a few specific styles. However, the latest update introduces an 'Any Style' option, enabling natural language descriptions for virtually any visual approach. This significantly expands creative possibilities.

Further refinements include the ability to modify existing images through touch gestures and natural language prompts. For example, a user can select an element, like a door on a cabin, and command the app to change its color or reposition it.

The updated Image Playground also facilitates the creation of Contact Posters and wallpapers for device Lock Screens. These features integrate seamlessly into apps like Messages, Keynote, and Freeform, ensuring a fluid user experience without needing to switch applications.

To utilize Image Playground, users require specific Apple devices equipped with Apple Intelligence. This includes iPhone 15 Pro models or newer, iPads with M1 chips or later, or Macs with M1 chips or later, all with Apple Intelligence enabled.
