New details have emerged regarding rumored Apple Home accessories, potentially from LG. A leak suggests a "Proximity Control" feature that could display an iPhone's Dynamic Island with controls for a smart home device when the phone is brought close to it. This integration is said to utilize the Matter protocol but appears to be an Apple Home-specific function.
This development follows recent leaks that also indicated a "tap to setup without power" pairing feature. Apple is anticipated to announce more about its smart home ambitions at an upcoming event on October 13th, with potential reveals including a new smart home hub, updated HomePod Mini, and a new Apple TV. The proximity control feature has reportedly been present in iOS code since version 27.0, with further evidence found in an iOS 27.2 beta.
