Apple's Foldable iPhone: iPad Features Inside

Apple is preparing to launch its long-awaited foldable iPhone this fall, introducing significant updates to iOS for enhanced multitasking. The device will feature an internal foldable display comparable in size to an iPad mini, alongside a smaller external screen similar to a standard iPhone. This interior display will utilize a wide aspect ratio, differentiating it from existing foldable phones on the market.

The new iPhone aims to provide an iPad-like app experience with the standard iOS operating system, not iPadOS. Developers will be able to adapt their applications to include sidebars and wider layouts, facilitating side-by-side app viewing. This functionality mirrors features found on competitor foldable devices.

Apple has focused on addressing common foldable phone drawbacks, such as display creases and durability. New display technology is being employed to minimize the crease, and enhanced durability is a key goal. The external screen will feature a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, replacing the traditional notch.

In a notable design shift, the foldable iPhone will integrate Touch ID into the side button, foregoing the Face ID system due to the thinness of the front panel. This marks the return of a fingerprint sensor to the iPhone lineup. The device is expected to be priced around $2,000 and will feature two rear cameras.
