The approved deal stipulates that affected authors will receive approximately $3,000 for each of their works involved, with the settlement encompassing over 480,000 distinct literary pieces.
In addition to the financial compensation, Anthropic is mandated to destroy the pirated book copies that were stored in its central library for AI training purposes. Despite the settlement's approval and substantial payout, some plaintiffs found the compensation insufficient and have chosen to opt out to pursue their own legal actions against the company.
